With nearly 30 years of experience in the grocery industry, Laura Derba has firsthand knowledge of every aspect of grocery store operation. After jobs with several conventional supermarkets, she began her career in natural foods as salad bar preparation at the Bread & Circus in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Since then, she has worked in virtually every department at Whole Foods Market and has worn many hats – from specialty team leader, accounting team leader, assistant store team leader and store team leader, executive coordinator of operations and vice-president of operations. She was named Whole Foods Market North Atlantic regional president in February 2009.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, Derba, a mother of two and grandmother of five, is passionate about promoting nutritional education for children in our communities. She has spearheaded a number of regional and in-store promotions to benefit programs that work to end childhood hunger.
