PALM DESERT, Calif. (June 25, 2014) – Whole Foods Market’s new Palm Desert store is teaming up with the Desert AIDS Project (www.desertaidsproject.org) to help provide medical care and support services for people living with HIV/AIDS in the local community. The partnership is part of the Palm Desert store’s ‘Summer of Giving’ campaign to raise funds and awareness for four local charities prior to its grand opening on Sept. 24.

“The Desert AIDS Project provides medical care and comprehensive support services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the desert community. Until there's a cure, the vision of Desert AIDS Project is of healthy individuals, families, and communities despite the existence of HIV,” said Casey Coyle, store team leader for the Palm Desert store. “The donation from Whole Foods Market Palm Desert will help support their mission of enhancing health and well-being.”

The ‘Summer of Giving’ is an online fundraising campaign that community members can support by going online to the Whole Foods Market Palm Desert store to donate through the EStore www.wholefoodsmarket.com/r/pmd . Whole Foods Market will match up to $5,000 for funds raised during the first two weeks of the campaign (June 23 – July 5), with funds benefitting the Desert AIDS Project.

“These four nonprofit organizations’ commitment to the community is truly inspiring,” added Coyle. “Whole Foods Market is proud to support their efforts and we know the funds raised will help these organizations continue the great work they are doing to support the community. We encourage people to go online and donate!”
