Omar Gaye is Regional President of Whole Foods Market’s Northern California Region where he oversees stores in California and Nevada. Before this role, Omar was president of Whole Foods Market’s Southwest Region for two years and the South Region for five years. He started his career with Whole Foods Market in 1992 as a dishwasher and sandwich maker at Fresh Fields (now Whole Foods Market) in Tyson’s Corner, Va. Over his 25-year Whole Foods Market career, he has worked in 10 stores, served as store team leader in five and has been a leader in three regions. The experience Omar was afforded when Fresh Fields became part of the Whole Foods Market family has allowed successful acquisitions to become a hallmark of his career, leading the South Region’s integration of Harry’s Farmers Market, Wild Oats and Greenlife Grocery.
Omar credits his childhood travel experiences for giving him a true passion and appreciation for all cultures, and a particular passion for Whole Planet Foundation. Keeping the Whole Foods Market culture alive and evolving at every store and facility in his region is a key element in Omar’s leadership priorities. Omar enjoys spending his free time with his family.
