As Whole Food Market’s bread program developer, Sandeep has his hands in everything related to dough, from ancient grain pizza crust to Forbidden Rice bread at our pilot scratch bread stores, which partner with local mills around the nation to offer best-in-class artisan breads for our stores. He uses more than two decades of experience in crop science, biochemistry and neuroscience to develop innovative and delicious baked goods for our stores.

Sandeep’s passion and expertise lie in the use of heirloom and specialty grains which support local and independent millers and farmers throughout the country. He is also the founder of the Texas Mesquite Movement, which promotes the culinary use of the state’s native mesquite pods. For his efforts, he was awarded Austin Food and Wine Alliance’s Culinary Innovation Grant in 2016 and was recognized as Edible Austin’s Food Artisan Local Hero in 2017 and 2019.
