WHAT: Whole Foods Market’s Voss store in Houston will open Wednesday, April 8, following a 7:30 a.m. bread-breaking ceremony and remarks from company and community officials.
In celebration of its grand opening, the store will hold tastings and special sales, and will offer live music and activities for all ages. Additionally, the first 500 shoppers will receive a Whole Foods Market reusable shopping bag.
As part of Whole Foods Market’s commitment to the community, the store will host a series of 1 percent community giving days during opening week. Guests can support a different Houston nonprofit each day, simply by shopping.
The following organizations will receive 1 percent of sales and will join the store in opening events:
• April 8 – Houston Symphony
• April 9 – Quilts for Kids
• April 10 – Pup Squad Rescue
• April 11 – Trotter Family YMCA
• April 12 – Houston Arboretum
Also on opening day, the store’s team leader, Andrew King, will present one Houston ISD school with a garden grant from the Whole Kids Foundation. The school was chosen from a pool of local applicants.
Mikaila Ulmer, 10-year-old founder of Bee Sweet Lemonade and recent “Shark Tank” contestant, will join Whole Foods Market’s Texas local forager for a special announcement at the ceremony.
