Austin, Texas (Oct. 30, 2018) – Today, Whole Foods Market announced the release of co-founder and CEO John Mackey’s new book, The Whole Foods Cookbook: 120 Delicious and Healthy Plant-Centered Recipes (Grand Central Life & Style, October 30, 2018). In keeping with the philosophy of Mackey’s previous book, The Whole Foods Diet, the new cookbook equips readers with the recipes, knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to create nutritious and delicious meals using whole, plant-based ingredients.
“One of the healthiest lifestyle choices you can make is to cook your own food,” said John Mackey, co-founder and CEO, Whole Foods Market. “The recipes in this book are meant to educate and inspire readers to embrace the health benefits of a nutrient-rich, plant-centered lifestyle and to enjoy delicious and simple meals in the process.”
Broken into two parts, The Whole Foods Cookbook begins with guidance from Mackey and co-authors Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Matthew Lederman – featured in the acclaimed documentary Forks Over Knives – about the health benefits of the diet and the purpose behind the many foundational techniques that give readers confidence in the kitchen, including cooking methods that maximize flavor without using refined ingredients. The book includes short cuts for family meals, tips on entertaining for a foodie crowd, and simple kitchen hacks to develop sweet and savory flavors without animal fats. The remainder of the book makes meal planning and snacking simple with culinary advice and over 120 delicious recipes developed by Chad Sarno and Derek Sarno, the brothers behind Wicked Healthy and The Wicked Healthy Cookbook. Each recipe features alternative protein options and simple step-by-step guidelines around steaming, roasting and sautéing without the use of oil.
“Our curated selection of carefully crafted recipes offer readers the guidance needed to seamlessly integrate plant-focused meals into their diets and prioritize eating whole, unprocessed foods,” said Chad Sarno, co-founder, Wicked Healthy. “In the midst of our busy lives, the last thing most of us need is an overly complicated diet. It’s all about balance, having fun in the kitchen, and making real food that’s delicious and healthy.”
To celebrate the launch of the cookbook, beginning tomorrow through Nov. 6, The Whole Foods Cookbook will be a featured Prime member deal at a promotional retail price of $15.99, a savings of more than $14.
