Emeryville, CA (February 24, 2010) — Whole Foods Market (wholefoodsmarket.com), America’s first certified organic retailer, is pleased to announce that Café Gratitude (cafegratitude.com), the popular Bay Area organic, raw and vegan restaurant, has opened its second café within Whole Foods Market at its Cupertino location. Café Gratitude will be serving up an abbreviated menu exclusive to Whole Foods Market that will include fresh juices, smoothies, salads, entrees, grain bowls and desserts. The first Café Gratitude Whole Foods Market outpost opened March 2009 in Oakland.
“Whole Foods Market is deepening its commitment to healthy eating through the new Health Starts Here initiative – which is a simple approach to eating well by consuming a plant-based, low fat and nutrient dense diet of whole foods,” said Scott Sherman, Whole Foods Market Cupertino Store Team Leader. “That said, Café Gratitude’s philosophy on organics and working with local farmers combined with their commitment to a nutrient dense diet made expanding this partnership with them an ideal situation. Also, our customers love their food!”
Café Gratitude, founded by Matthew and Terces Engelhart in 2004, is an expression of “world of plenty,” with their food and people being a daily expression of aliveness. The café selects the finest organic ingredients to honor the earth, supports local farmers and advocates sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly products. Throughout their six Bay Area locations, Café Gratitude offers its customers a wonderful array of innovative raw, organic and vegan menu items including smoothies, non-dairy milkshakes, soups, salads, grain bowls and their take on popular items like pizza, nachos, spring rolls and a variety of desserts.
“We are thrilled to nurture and expand upon our Whole Foods Market relationship with the second café location in Cupertino,” said Matthew Engelhart, founder, Café Gratitude. “We consider our partnership with Whole Foods Market to be an important step in introducing and educating the public on the health benefits of a delicious, plant-based diet.”
