Whole Foods Market continues to grow and create jobs in Louisiana.

With the Feb. 4 opening of its Broad Street store in New Orleans—the company’s fourth Louisiana location—Whole Foods Market employs nearly 1,000 people in the state. And that number will grow when it opens a store in Lafayette later this year, and one in Shreveport in 2015.

For its Broad Street store, Whole Foods Market hired 125 team members, 70 percent of whom are new to the company. More than 1,400 people from the New Orleans community applied for positions, and more than 800 attended a store job fair in December 2013. Nearly 75 percent of the store’s new team members live in Orleans Parish.
