Carla is a Senior Team Leader of Product Development for Whole Foods Market. She manages all aspects of product development and drives innovation and differentiation in support of Whole Foods Market’s Exclusive Brands products. She also started the sensory program at Whole Foods Market 11 years ago. During her time at Whole Foods Market, she’s trained over 80 panelists to be professional taste testers and hosted hundreds of Taste Buds panels to gather feedback on products from Whole Foods Market’s foodies. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, a Masters in Food Science, and her Registered Dietitian certification, Carla is Whole Foods Market’s go-to sensory authority.
Carla was drawn to Whole Foods Market by its mission-driven culture, emphasis on healthy eating, and her passion for food. Starting as an Associate Product Developer, she soon recognized the need for a sensory program and made it her mission, eventually leading to her current role. Beyond her role, Carla is an Executive Committee member for the Society of Sensory Professionals, chairing the Professional Development Committee. Outside of work, she finds creative expression through sewing and quilting.
