Lisa Zografos serves as the Principal Category Merchant for Specialty Cheese at Whole Foods Market and lives in Toronto, CA. She collaborates closely with Cheese Producers, Affineurs, Distributors and Importers to curate the finest cheeses from around the world for Whole Foods Market. Lisa holds a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering with a focus in Food Process Engineering from Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada; an MBA from Niagra University in Niagra, New York; and a Chef Training Certificate with Honors from Humber College in Toronto, Canada Commencing her career as a Chemical Engineer, Lisa has garnered experience with notable companies such as Unilever, General Electric and Maple Leaf Foods, helping hone her expertise in areas such as cheese processing, product quality and understanding the environmental impact of food processing. Since 2013, she has been an integral part of Whole Foods Market’s Specialty team, initially joining as the Canadian Cheese Buyer. She is an active member of the American Cheese Society and the Guilde International Des Fromagers, providing support to Cheese Education Programs. Lisa’s passion for all things cheese includes enthusiasm for culinary exploration, whether that is traveling to some of her favorite places like France and Italy or attending industry shows like the Fancy Food show and the Cheese and Dairy Products Show (Salon du Fromage). Some of her favorite cheeses include Mont D’Or, Parmigiano Reggiano, MonS Tomme de Savoie, Neal’s Yard Dairy Red Leicester and Cow’s Creamery Avonlea Clothbound Cheddar.
