Washington, D.C. (March 29, 2023) – Jason Buechel, Whole Foods Market Chief Executive Officer, participated today in a fireside chat at the Axios What’s Next Summit, an event spotlighting the innovators making their mark on the future of work, where Jason shared his thoughts on the important issues shaping Whole Foods Market and where the company continues to raise the bar.
In a conversation with Axios business reporter Dan Primack, Buechel emphasized how the company continues to support its higher purpose of nourishing people and the planet, such as its goal to reduce food waste by 50 percent by 2030 and investing in regenerative agriculture so Whole Foods Market can continue to support its customers for decades to come. Buechel also remarked on how Whole Foods Market is continuing to create a better experience for customers, suppliers, Team Members, and the communities it serves.
“Our customers are coming to us for the fact that we’ve done the homework for them and there’s a differentiated assortment, so they’re not confined,” said Jason Buechel, chief executive officer at Whole Foods Market. “Whether it’s our quality standards or the 365 and Whole Foods Market branded products we carry, our focus is on how do we continue to serve our customers, create an amazing experience, and grow from there.”
Buechel began his role as CEO of Whole Foods Market in September 2022, previously serving as the company’s Chief Operating Officer.
