Now In Season: Apples

Chef Hollie Greene of JoyFoodly.com creates recipes for the region’s Now In Season program. Here’s her Abundance of Apples with a Nutty Chocolate Dip – a great one for kids!

Abundance of Apples with a Nutty Chocolate Dip
Serving size: 4
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes

Ingredients
Apples, 3 (use different varieties for fun), sliced (wait until you're ready to eat to slice!)
Almonds (raw, unsalted), 1 cup
Semi-sweet chocolate chips, 1 cup
Sea salt (or finishing salt), 1 tsp

Directions
Preheat oven to 375F.
Place nuts on a baking sheet and roast for 10 minutes in the oven.
In a food processor, blend nuts, stopping periodically to scrape down the sides, until they are creamy (takes up to 5 minutes).
Add chocolate chips and pulse until a creamy consistency.
Add salt and pulse to combine.
Cut apples just before ready to eat and serve with a side of homemade chocolate nutty dip.
