HYANNIS, Mass. (Sept. 10, 2024) – Whole Foods Market will open a new 42,560-square-foot store located at 790 Iyannough Road Hyannis, Massachusetts, on October 10 at 9:00 a.m. ET. The store is a relocation of the existing Hyannis store down the road (990 Iyannough Rd), which has served the community for more than a decade. Regular store hours will be 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. daily.
This new, larger store’s design draws inspiration from the Cape’s coastal conditions, incorporating themes of wind and water into a palette of soft neutrals and deep earth tones, balanced by clean, contemporary lines. The store’s product assortment will feature more than 370 local items from New England, sourced with the help of Holly Long, Forager for Local & Emerging Brands at Whole Foods Market.
Features of the new Hyannis store include:
- Curated grocery section filled with private label favorites from 365 by Whole Foods Market, and local products including Beanstock Coffee Roasters, Jim’s Organic Coffee, Diggables Buckwheat Puffs, and Bona Furtuna Extra Virgin Olive Oil Blend by Chef Karen Akunowicz (exclusive to Whole Foods Market).
- An array of certified organic, conventional and Sourced for Good Local offerings include salad blends from Farming Turtles and cold pressed juices and drink mixers from Ripe.
- Specialty department dedicated to celebrating cheesemakers and artisan producers, featuring products from 15 local suppliers like Cabot Creamery, Maplebrook Farm and Gotham Greens. The cheese counter will be overseen by trained cheesemongers and a Certified Cheese Professional who can offer recommendations for any occasion.
- Full-service seafood counter featuring only sustainable wild-caught or Responsibly Farmed seafood and a large selection of ready-to-cook options. Local suppliers include Twin Light Smokehouse, Luke’s Lobster and Raw Seafoods, Inc.
- Full-service meat counter, with butchers available to cut steaks and poultry to order. Local options include pork from Overbrook Farms, bacon and sausages from North Country Smokehouse and beef from Pineland Farms.
- Prepared Foods department featuring a hot bar, salad bar and fresh pizza. Customers can also shop for made-to-order sandwiches and rotisserie chicken.
- Bakery department offering bread baked fresh daily as well as everyday favorites, such as Whole Foods Market’s Berry Chantilly Cake and brown butter chocolate chip cookies. The department also carries a wide variety of gluten free and vegan items. Local offerings include breads from Pain D’Avignon, donut muffins and cookies from Bisousweet Confections and cookies from Kayak Cookies.
- A Whole Body department with a large assortment of wellness, beauty and lifestyle items. Local products include small-batch artisan soaps from Center Street Soap Co., candles from Cape Cod Soy Candles and body care from True Moringa.
Opening day festivities include:
- Opening morning, customers will enjoy coffee from Jim’s Organic Coffee, and pastries from Pain D’Avignon Bakery.
- The first 300 customers in line opening morning will receive a limited-edition tote bag and a Secret Saver coupon featuring offers up to $100 off.
- Whole Foods Market will donate a Nourishing Our Neighborhoods van to Family Table Collaborative. This initiative, part of the Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program launched in 2020, aims to enhance the operational capabilities of local food rescue organizations, enabling efficient transport of food from surplus locations to areas with the greatest need.
All food at Whole Foods Market must meet the company’s rigorous Quality Standards, which prohibit hydrogenated fats, high-fructose corn syrup and more than 300 flavors, colors, sweeteners and other ingredients commonly found in food. In addition, all beauty and body care products must meet the company’s body care standards, which ban more than 240 commonly used ingredients, including phthalates, parabens and microbeads.
The new store will now offer grocery delivery to Cape Cod residents along with grocery pickup, and the store will have an Amazon returns counter and kiosk.
