AUSTIN, Texas (March 9, 2012) — On Sunday, March 10, 2013, while Austin, TX rocks out at this year’s annual SXSW festival, Whole Planet Foundation, Whole Foods Market® and presenting sponsors Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, Odwalla and Teas’ Tea will host a showcase of their own to help fight global poverty, right in the heart of the city. Artists, brands and foundation supporters will gather at Whole Foods Market’s flagship store at Lamar and 6th Street for an afternoon of live music to raise awareness and support for the foundation’s work. Whole Planet Foundation is a nonprofit that alleviates global poverty through microcredit and entrepreneurship programs in 55 countries around the world, including the United States. This showcase falls right in the middle of the nonprofit’s annual prosperity campaign, which runs from February 20 to March 31, 2013. This year, the nonprofit aims to raise $5.7 million for global poverty relief – enough funds to create nearly 36,000 microloans that will support more than 200,000 people with the chance for a better life. “We are delighted to showcase leading artists and partners during a high-profile music week in our hometown of Austin, which will raise awareness and support for our lending programs and beneficiaries as part of our annual fundraising campaign,” said Joy Stoddard, executive development and outreach director of Whole Planet Foundation. The event will feature performances by hometown favorites including the headliner Quiet Company, winner of 10 Austin Music Awards. Other leading artists include national touring band Honor Society, Seryn, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Courrier, O Conqueror, Suite 709, The Preservation, Belmont Lights, Emily Reid, Frankie, Caroline Brooks and Jordan Bass & His Mixed Bag. The event is also supported by Stage Sponsors Barefoot Wine, PreSonus/Nimbit, Thrillcall app and Gibson Pro Audio brand Cerwin Vega.
