Shoppers can say cheese or cheers to celebrate the pairing of two of everyone’s favorite things – cheese and beer. Beer lovers and cheese enthusiasts will have the opportunity to learn the secrets of pairing their choice of brew or cheese with Janet Fletcher, author of “Cheese & Beer.” In her new book, Fletcher – an author and co-author of 20 books on food and wine, James Beard Award winner, and cheese authority – will help shoppers take the guesswork out of pairing fine cheese with the booming world of craft beers.

Fletcher will be at Whole Foods Market’s Thousand Oaks store signing copies of “Cheese & Beer,” on Friday, May 31, 2013. Starting at 1 p.m., shoppers can enjoy a lively talk with Fletcher, followed by a question and answer session from approximately 2-4 p.m.

“Cheese & Beer” profiles the most popular craft brew styles and their cultured counterparts. Readers will find recommended beers from more than 70 craft breweries, a helpful chart suggesting appropriate beers for many styles of cheese, instructions for properly serving and storing cheese and beer, and much more.

“We’re excited to welcome Janet to share more about her mix of craft and culture,” said Lindsey Miller, Whole Foods Market Thousand Oaks marketing supervisor. “While we offer events that give our customers an opportunity to learn more about the healthy, natural and organic foods available in our stores, activities like provide a fun option for those who want to indulge in their favorite guilty pleasures.”

The first-ever guide of its kind, Fletcher’s book is an interesting and helpful resource for cheese enthusiasts who want to stray from wine and into the exciting world of craft beer, and beer lovers who want to discover cheese (other than the one on their pizza).
