Honolulu, HI (March 17, 2011) Whole Foods Market Hawai‘i stores are all currently accepting donations to benefit the American Red Cross Hawai‘i’s Japan disaster relief fund and its efforts to aid Japan and its citizens following the devastating earthquake and tsunami on March 11. Donations are being accepted at registers at both Whole Foods Market’s Kahala and Kahului stores where customers can pledge any amount of money to the cause.

“With Hawai‘i’s close ties to Japan and the growing number of Japanese visitors who frequent our stores, Whole Foods Market Hawai‘i remains committed to doing its part to helping Japan in its time of need,” said Maren Giuliano, Whole Foods Market regional vice president. “We encourage our customers to give whatever they can whether it’s the change from their purchase, one, five, ten dollars — or more – all of it is much-needed by the Red Cross for their ongoing relief efforts.”

Donated funds will enable the American Red Cross to provide medical care and relief assistance for survivors in Japan. The disaster relief organization is reaching out to those who have been displaced with shelter, food, emotional support and financial assistance as well as supporting the Japanese government’s earthquake and tsunami response.
