Seattle, WA. (November 27, 2009) – Whole Foods Market is pleased to announce a donation of $18,500 to local non-profit Operation Frontline, a program with Solid Ground.

The $18,500 donation represents 5% of net sales at Whole Foods Market’s five Seattle locations that participated in the Community Giving Day on October 28 2009.

The money raised by Seattle shoppers will go to Operation Frontline, a program of Solid Ground. Operation Frontline coordinates and trains volunteer chefs and nutritionists to teach six-week classes on nutrition, healthy cooking and food budgeting for individuals at risk of hunger and malnutrition.

“Operation Frontline and Solid Ground are grateful to Whole Foods Market and their patrons for this generous donation.  With a community partner like Whole Foods, Operation Frontline can continue to teach basic cooking, nutrition and food budgeting skills to Seattle area families.”

“We are so happy to offer this donation to Solid Ground and the Operation Frontline program,” said Mary Crowe, marketing specialist at Whole Foods Market Interbay. “This organization is very close to our hearts. At Whole Foods Market we believe that everyone should be able to eat and live well.”
