Honolulu, HI (April 18, 2011) – Whole Foods Market announced today that Vinny DeJohn has joined its Kahala store as an assistant store team leader. DeJohn has been with Whole Foods Market since 2004 and brings a wealth of knowledge as well as a culinary background that has made him an asset in stores across the country.
“Vinny’s experience with Whole Foods Market has included a number of different positions from pizza cook to demo chef with the marketing team as well as a team leader of our specialty department – all which makes him a valuable and well-rounded addition to our Kahala store team,” said Lindsay Mucha, Whole Foods Market Kahala store team leader.
As assistant store team leader DeJohn will be responsible for assisting the leadership team with all store operations, store direction and vision .
DeJohn got his start with Whole Foods Market after completing an externship at the Scottsdale Culinary Institute in Scottsdale, Arizona. After graduation, his passion for food led him to work in the store’s prepared foods and catering department and also to work as a demo chef in the marketing department where he wowed customers with his cooking prowess four times a week. DeJohn has also held positions as assistant team leader and team leader of the specialty department and played a key role in helping the company to open new stores in Arizona and Hawaii.
Most recently, DeJohn played an integral role helping to oversee the cheese and wine department during the opening of the Whole Foods Market Kahului store in 2010.
“From what I’ve experienced Hawai‘i is truly a beautiful and special place and I look forward to meeting our shoppers and working with the community to share with them the many all-natural and local products that Whole Foods Market has to offer,” said DeJohn.
