KAILUA, HAWAIʻI (March 9, 2012) – Whole Foods Market Kailua store is cooking up a tasty pre-opening event that will have guests hungry for more. On Sunday, April 15, 2012, the newest grocer to Kailua is taking it to the next level by inviting 200 shoppers to participate in a special preview tour and block party. From 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., members of the community are invited to an afternoon stocked with flavorful food and beverage samples, entertainment, booths by Whole Foods Market’s community partners and more. The community is invited to RSVP for the event starting Friday, March 23 at https://wholefoodsmarketkailuaapril15.eventbrite.com/.

Prior to gaining entrance to the block party, all participants will be given a special sneak peek of Whole Foods Market’s newest Hawaiʻi store. The guided tours will begin every 15 minutes from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.

“We truly want our new Kailua store to be a part of the community, which is why we’re throwing open our doors and giving shoppers a behind-the-scenes tour of the store before our grand opening April 18,” said Dabney Gough, marketing supervisor for Whole Foods Market Kailua. “This block party is just a small way that we can celebrate with and give back to the island community, which has supported us over the years, and warmly welcomed us into Kailua.”

Attendance at the block party is limited to the first 200 guests who RSVP online. Starting March 23, 2012 at 8 a.m., attendees must sign up for a guided tour by visiting https://wholefoodsmarketkailuaapril15.eventbrite.com/ by Wednesday, April 4, 2012 and arrive no earlier than a few minutes prior to their scheduled tour.  All participants must participate in a store tour prior to joining the block party. Once tours are filled no additional tours will be added.

“This event is a fun and festive way for Whole Foods Market to meet new shoppers and catch up with old friends, as well as for those in the community who may not be familiar with our company to get to know who we are, and connect with some of our local partners and vendors,” added Gough.

Upon entering the block party, entertainment will fill the Kailua Town Center parking lot. The main course of the event will be a series of tasty demonstrations and sample stations offering a mouth-watering selection of pupus or small bites to enjoy. For pairing with the delicious food options, alcoholic beverages will be available for a $5 required donation to benefit Paepae O Heʻeia, nonprofit dedicated to restoring the ancient Hawaiian fishpond in Heʻeia.
