LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (May 2, 2012) – Demonstrating Whole Foods Market’s commitment to the community, five percent of the day’s net sales on June 6 will be donated to the Laguna Niguel YMCA to benefit popular family and children’s programs aimed at encouraging good health
and fostering connections through fitness, sports and fun activities.

Through the Laguna Niguel YMCA, thousands of local youth,
adults and families are receiving the support, guidance and resources needed to
achieve greater health and well-being in spirit, mind and body.

“Whole Foods Market passionately supports the valuable work our local YMCA is doing to promote and support the importance of a healthy lifestyle and overall wellness,” said Patrick Bradley, regional president for Whole Foods Market Southern Pacific Region. “Our team members are part of the local community and they enthusiastically support the local causes that are important to our shoppers and neighbors. The YMCA emerged as a popular choice for this contribution.”

The Laguna Niguel Family YMCA offers a wide range of activities and programs for families and children including a JUMPSTART fitness assessment and orientation, group fitness classes, personal training, family wellness events and more. Through their Partner's Campaign, they are able to provide local children and families access to life-changing, confidence building programs.

Since opening the Tustin store in The District in 2007, and the Huntington Beach store in 2010, Whole Foods Market has given more than $46,000 to local community groups.

Other Orange County-based recipients of Whole Foods Market’s 5% Community Days include:

Talk About Curing Autism (T.A.C.A.), The Irvine Animal Care Center, The American Red Cross Orange County Chapter, Savannah’s Organic Ranch Second Harvest Food Bank, The Boys and Girls Club of Tustin, KCRW, Monteverde Conservation League, Families Forward and the Tustin Public Schools Foundation.

As part of its commitment to supporting local causes in the community in which it works, Whole Foods Market stores, nationwide, hold Community Support Days several times a year and donate five percent of that day’s net sales to a local nonprofit or educational organization.

Whole Foods Market Laguna Niguel encourages local residents to come in and shop at the store on June 6 to help support the local YMCA.
