(AUSTIN, Texas) April 1, 2016 – Finding love in the aisles of Whole Foods Market isn’t new, but demand is growing. Due to overwhelming customer feedback, America’s Healthiest Grocery Store™ is launching its first-ever in-store dating app called Main Squeeze by Whole Foods Market™.
“We hear about love connections in our stores all the time. Over the years we’ve actually helped our shoppers plan engagements and have even hosted weddings at our stores, so making it easier for our customers to connect was a natural next step,” said Matt Nitowski, director of Customer Connection for Whole Foods Market. “The new Main Squeeze™ app is part of our mission to provide convenient and seamless solutions for our shoppers, and to connect with our local community.”
Knowing how personal food choices can be, the app allows users to swipe left or right on a potential date’s shopping basket as a way to connect like-minded shoppers while they are in-store. The company piloted the application with a group of volunteer customers to refine the experience and to truly co-create a differentiated dating service.
Is a Paleo diet a deal breaker in a relationship? Or a necessity? No problem! The app allows you to set your profile as vegan, gluten free, paleo, vegetarian and host of other eating styles so users will only be matched with compatible shoppers.
The application uses location-based technology to also notify shoppers which aisle a potential mate is shopping in.
“People joke about finding love in a grocery store, but John and I did,” said Mary Palmer, who met her husband at a Whole Foods Market salad bar in Denver. The couple have been married since 2012.
Forget walking the grocery aisles alone. Main Squeeze™ hopes users will find someone to walk with down the wedding aisle. This next-generation app is available for iPhone and Android beginning today.
