(Clark, NJ – August 6, 2015) – Whole Foods Market (NASDAQ: WFM), America’s Healthiest Grocery Store®, is excited to announce the opening of its newest location in Clark, NJ on Friday, August 7th. Whole Foods Market Clark, located within the Clark Commons Shopping Center (1255 Raritan Road), is the retailer’s second Union County location and fourteenth in New Jersey. The day will kick-off with the retailer’s traditional bread breaking ceremony at 8:45am, followed by giveaways, sampling, special sales, and other events throughout the store. 

With Whole Foods Market’s continued commitment to the local community, the Clark store will donate 5% of opening day sales to the Clark Recreation Center in support of improvements to the recreation center kitchen. In addition, in partnership with the Recreation Department, the Clark store will launch the Clark Family Kitchen program, offering both healthy and educational kitchen programming for kids, adults and seniors, with classes and nutrition classes both in-store and in the recreation center kitchen.

At 41,000 square feet, Whole Foods Market Clark will be providing local residents with a vast and unparalleled selection of high quality natural and organic goods, in addition to a variety of unique dining options and first-to-market store innovations. All products meet the retailer’s strict quality standards.

Whole Foods Market Clark recently introduced Clark Bar, the store’s full-scale restaurant. Clark Bar’s fast-casual style will serve as an ideal place for area residents and families to grab a refreshing cocktail, beer or glass of wine in addition to a delicious quick lunch or casual dinner. 

Clark Bar will also be the exclusive location where beer enthusiasts can find Markt Saison from New Jersey’s own Kane Brewing. The new brew is an unfiltered, deep golden colored Saison at 5.8% ABV and is made with a blend of locally sourced New Jersey yeast. The restaurant’s twelve beer taps will rotate an assortment of local and domestic seasonal and year-round craft brews. For the month of August, Clark Bar will run a special on all craft beers on tap at $5 (originally priced at $6).

In addition, every department will be featuring an unrivaled selection of premium and locally sourced goods, including: 

  • Meat: Bacon lovers rejoice with the in-house bacon program featuring more than 10 delicious varieties of bacon including the Double Smoked Pork Bacon in Sriracha, Chorizo, Jake’s Coffee Rub, and Bourbon or 100% Grass-fed Beef Sugar Free Bacon and Sugar Free Pork Bacon for Paleo-friendly diets. The store will also have in-house smoked and dry-aged meats that are free of antibiotics and added hormones.

  • Produce: Picked at the peak of ripeness, the Produce Department will offer an array of fresh local Jersey produce – from heirloom and cherry tomatoes to corn, zucchini, eggplant, peaches, nectarines, and more!

  • Bakery: Featuring in-house baked goods, there will also be an assortment of angel food cake in raspberry, lemon, coconut, almond, chocolate and plain. In addition to scratch made breads, the Clark Bakery Department will also be launching brand new local bagel sticks and sandwich breads.

  • Seafood: Fresh fish and local catches in partnership with Trinity Seafood from the Jersey Shore! Shoppers can find ready-to-cook Paleo items and other in-house made offerings like a pickled shrimp.

  • Specialty: In addition to some of the finest cheeses sourced locally, domestically and from around the world, the Clark store will be the first to offer cheese curds from Beechers Handmade Cheese in New York City.

  • Grocery: The aisles will be stocked with a heavy emphasis on sugar-free, gluten-free, and vegan options, as well as the launch of the brand-new, packaged butter from Dan Richer of Razza Restaurant in Jersey City.  

  • Coffee: The store will also feature an in-house coffee and espresso bar using fresh-brewed Allegro coffee. The Clark store will be the first Whole Foods Market location to launch a Specialty Matcha Bar showcasing 12, curated Matcha beverages. The Matcha Bar will serve traditional Matcha tea, as well as more innovative options like Matcha Lemonade Cooler. The Matcha Bar will have an opening special sale of 50% from Friday, Aug. 7th to Sunday, Aug. 9th.

  • Prepared Foods: Find delicious in-house dining options like Pizza, BBQ, Sushi, and Salads, as well as a hot, cold, and soup bar for easy eating on-the-go. The Clark store will also offer made-in-house grass-fed roast beef.

  • Juice Bar: Freshly made-to-order, grab and go juices and smoothies.

  • Whole Body: Whole Foods Market’s industry leading natural body care and supplement department will be launching in-house, small batch made make-up composed of all-natural, simple ingredients like coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter!
