Hyannis, Mass., (May 14, 2014) – Whole Foods Market (NASDAQ: WFM), the world’s leading natural and organic supermarket and America’s first national certified organic grocer, opened the doors of its newest community market, in Hyannis, Massachusetts, today. The location is the first Whole Foods Market on Cape Cod.
The 28,000 square foot store located at 990 Iyannough Road on route 132 in Hyannis employs approximately 125 full and part time team members.
“We’ve created a community market that we feel truly reflects all of the best attributes of Cape Cod, from the products to the decor,” said Store Team Leader, Dianne Dickson. “We have complimented our outstanding grocery selection with a huge assortment of local goods; from seafood and salad dressings to artisanal breads and ice cream.”
Along with produce, meat, seafood, grocery and whole body departments, Whole Foods Market Hyannis features a chef-run prepared foods department that offers hot and cold salad bars along with made-to-order sandwiches served on local Pain D’Avignon bread, lobster rolls, hot dogs, burritos and pizza. The bakery department boasts a waffle bar featuring local Four Seas Ice Cream. Three walk-up seasonal service windows, offer the convenience of prepared foods on the go.
Customers looking for a place to unwind can enjoy their food in the outdoor seating area, or in the Cod Café, where they can also order up hot, cold and frozen Allegro coffee drinks, frozen yogurt, fresh squeezed juices and smoothies.
The store’s specialty department features an antipasti bar and a cheese room boasting a selection of 100 different cow, sheep, goat and buffalo milk cheeses. Nearly half of those cheeses are produced locally. Sampling is encouraged!
