Following the recent announcement of the completed renovation of the Pinecrest store on South Dixie Highway (US1), Whole Foods Market, the world’s leading natural and organic foods supermarket, will celebrate the grand re-opening of the 30,000-square-foot, remodeled store with an exciting slew of fun-for-all-ages activities and events, including chef demos and appearances with Maggie Jimenez of Delicioso con Ingrid Hoffman on Telefutura and Galavision and Jeremiah Bullfrog of Gastropod food truck, live music, kids’ activities, bread breaking ceremony with Pinecrest Vice-Mayor Joseph M. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 13 – 5% COMMUNITY GIVING DAY

All Store Hours – The grand re-opening festivities kick-off with a 5% Day, benefiting Slow Foods Miami, a local chapter of Slow Foods USA and the International Slow Food Association, an eco-gastronomic organization that supports a bio-diverse, sustainable food supply, local producers, heritage foodways and rediscovery of the pleasures of the table.  5% of the day’s net sales will be donated to the organization.

3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Kids “Pizza” Garden: raised bed herb planting activity sponsored by Slow Food Miami School Garden Committee with GROW – Green Railway Organic Workshop.

6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – LUCINI ITALIA Olive Oil tasting and wine pairing. Renée Frigo & Daniel Graeff, Founders of Lucini Italia Olive Oil, will host an extra virgin olive oil tasting; followed by a brief wine tasting with Certified Master Gastronomisti and food and wine historian, Leticia de Mello Bueno. FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15 – STOREWIDE TASTING EVENT

6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. – Storewide food and wine sampling benefiting GROW – Green Railway Organic Workshop. A $10.00 per person donation includes seven delicious small plates, along with seasonal wine pairings.

 

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16 – GRAND RE-OPENING CELEBRATION

Open to Close – Day full of special events, kids’ activities, give-a-ways, vendor samplings, music and more.

  • 7:00 a.m. – Performance by Killian Senior High Marching Band
  • 8:00 a.m. – Bread Breaking Ceremony officiated by Vice-Mayor Joseph M. Corradino
  • 8:00 a.m. – First 200 customers receive a goody-bag full of product samples & coupons
  • 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Vendor demos & samplings throughout store
  • Noon – 8:00 p.m. – Complimentary five minute massages from My Massage Corner
  • 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Face painting with Strawberry the Clown
  • 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Coconut decorating with Coconut Creations  
  • 11:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Chef Jeremiah Bullfrog of Gastropod, with liquid nitrogen demo featuring liquid nitrogen milk shakes

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 17 – LOCAL FESTIVAL

11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Storewide event, highlighting local vendors, community partners and local artisans, is free and fun for the entire family.

  • 11:00 a.m. – First 200 customers receive a goody-bag stuffed with product samples & coupons
  • 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Local artisans, community outreach stations & vendor samples
  • 11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. – Live music from The Barkless Dawgs and Tim Tye “The Raw Foods Guy”
  • 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Kids cooking demonstrations and pumpkin decorating with celebrity chef Maggie Jimenez.  Pre-registration required.
  • 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  – Coconut decorating with Coconut Creations
