Whole Foods Market’s Broad Street store in New Orleans will open Tuesday, Feb. 4, following a bread-breaking ceremony and remarks from local and company officials.
The grand opening event will feature live music and complimentary coffee and refreshments, and will get under way at 7:45 a.m., outside the store, near the intersection of North Broad and Bienville streets. The doors will open at 9 a.m.
Whole Foods Market also will host a preview party, from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, where community members can get a sneak peek at the 25,000-square-foot store while sampling products from local and national suppliers and recipes prepared by healthy eating educators.
Attendees also can meet and learn about other ReFresh Project tenants, including Liberty’s Kitchen, Tulane University’s Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine, Broad Community Connections and FirstLine Schools. The events are free and open to the community.
The store anchors the ReFresh Project, a 60,000-square-foot development that aims to stimulate growth in New Orleans’ Broad Street commercial corridor, and to improve access to fresh, high-quality food and health-related programs in the community.
