BOULDER, Colo. (May 25, 2011) – Today Whole Foods Market Boulder announces the opening of Whole Foods Market Wine & Spirits adjacent to the existing Pearl Street store.  The retailer purchased the store from Ace Liquors which closed for business on Monday.

Whole Foods Market Wine & Spirits will feature Three Wishes Wine which is an exclusive product to the company offering superior quality and taste at a value price.  Three Wishes wine is sold for only $2.99 and is available in Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot varietals from vineyards California.

“Whole Foods Market Wine & Spirits will provide Boulder residents with additional amenities creating a one-stop shop at our Pearl location,” said Dave Kauder, specialty coordinator for Whole Foods Market Rocky Mountain Region.  “We will be outfitting the store with our exclusive items and a large collection of wines priced at the popular $8 – 12 range offering our shoppers more opportunities to try a wide range of varieties.”

Wine & Spirits is now fully open and operational to shoppers.  During the next few weeks the store will undergo a transition to offer Whole Foods Market select products as well as new signage to update the store and its layout.

Wine & Spirits will replace the Merchant of Vino wine store in the company’s Tamarac store in Denver as accordance to state liquor laws that allow a retailer to only have one liquor license.  Whole Foods Market is in the process of attaining its permanent liquor license from the City of Boulder.  The hearing with the City is on July 20.
