Whole Foods Market® (NASDAQ: WFM), the leading natural and organic foods supermarket, announced that Roberta Lang, the company’s general counsel, is the winner of the Magna Stella award for in-house excellence in leadership and management by The General Counsel Forum. Based in Dallas, Texas, The Forum is a community of more than 600 general counsel and selected senior managing counsel representing 350 companies striving to be the best at discovering, benchmarking and sharing best practices, and delivering them to members in a peer-to-peer community environment.

Lang was nominated by coworkers and peers outside of Whole Foods Market for the award. Roberta is responsible for a broad scope of corporate legal functions for the entire company and its more than 73,000 employees. As a leader in a company with more than 335 stores and a goal of 1,000 U.S. locations, Lang describes herself and her busy team of attorneys as “being in whitewater all the time.”
In addition to leading Whole Food's legal team, Roberta has a history of contributions to the company’s philanthropic efforts. She is a founding and leading board member at the Whole Planet Foundation, which seeks poverty alleviation through microcredit in communities worldwide that supply Whole Foods Market stores with products.
