Just in time for holiday gatherings, the free smartphone app includes useful tools expanding customer’s knowledge about cheese and how to tips on building the perfect spread. Whether a novice or cheese aficionado, the app takes the guessing out of fromage exploration with distinct flavor profiles, narrows a wide variety of selections fitting to individual’s taste palates and advises customers on how to create a customized cheese platter. Additionally, the cheese app features enter to win prizes and a GPS-enabled store locator. Now available, the free EatItUpApp can be downloaded at the app store via iPhones and iPads.

Coming off the heels of the Summer of Sausage program, the Fall EatItUpApp cheese version will continue to inspire, encourage and educate foodies and shoppers alike. The app offers customers a way to engage with the store as well as be part of in-store programs, contests and initiatives. Initial features will include:
- The Cheese Wheel is a fun tool helping customers discover their cheese preference by allowing them to select four cheeses based on a flavor profile, texture and pairing capabilities. Thus, they create a customized cheese platter fitting for their food adventures. For those short on time, customers can shake their phone and randomly receive one of four prepared cheese platters. Once the cheeses have been selected, customers have the option to share their platter with friends via Facebook.
- Cheese Profiles allows customers to explore individual cheeses up by flavor profile to get in-depth information about varying combinations, cooking suggestions, wine pairing and more.
- Cheese Worth Winning allowing users in the Mid-Atlantic area to enter to win New Year’s Eve cheese platter. Fit for any type of party or gathering, one customer from each Mid-Atlantic Whole Foods Market store will be randomly drawn to receive a delectable cheese platter (Valued at $75) to welcome in the New Year. This summer EatItUpApp successfully launched with unique features including it changes periodically to support new seasonal promotions in the Mid-Atlantic region throughout the year and it doesn’t remain wholly static. As the app is updated, new games, features, recipes and contests will be introduced to familiarize Whole Foods Market shoppers with a specific line of products and present new, distinctive ways to serve them to their families. While basic information like the store locator and recipes will stay in place from season to season, EatItUpApp updates will feature new home-screen icons and startup graphics to accompany seasonal promotions, without the need to download a new application.
